Barcelo Temporary Market

Called Barceló Temporary Market, the structures remain in place while a series of new buildings for the area are under construction, including a shopping centre, sports centre and library.

The temporary market is made up of six connected buildings with pentagonal footprints, each clad in translucent polycarbonate panels.

BARCELÓ MARKET

The new Barceló market and its surroundings area project is in fact the result of various other projects: An urban combination of different scale and programme elements that have come together to significantly transform a dense central area of Madrid. The idea originates from the definition of new areas that connect and link the different structures and foreseen functions of the market, shopping centre, sports centre, public library, car parks, temporary market and outdoor areas. The built-up complex is made up of three independent structures joined to a new public square.

This might seem weird at first, but you’ll get used to it, I know you’re strong. A floating office is not something you see every day actually, so this prefabricated concept might suit your needs.

The H2Office was originally conceived as a floating office unit. Although its design is quite versatile so it could be remodeled and used in many other ways. It could become a living place, a meeting/working area, a play room, a dining area and so on.

As the office the unit provides enough space for one or two people to work in comfort. It also features plenty of storage space, an external sun desk to relax after a meal on a kitchenette, and a pull-out bed for ocassional overnight stays. Extras includes a microwave oven, fridge, wind turbine, solar panels, flat-panel tv, air conditioning and so on. The price starts from £59,950 ($135,000).

This lil’ thing, called “Leaf House”, may well be the most amazing cottage in the world. The cottage is located on an escarpment overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Sydney, Australia. It belongs as part of a larger private residence. The shape of the project has been fastened from the images of leaves making this very unique indeed. The roof is constructed of copper which has been woven into a pattern much like how a plant in nature would appear. The inside construction is anchored by supports that have been shaped to mirror that of plant stems; growing wild and in all directions. The end result is a panoramic view from the cottage that also contains a unique look from inside as well. Leaf House was designed by Undercurrent Architects.

The russian team a. asadov architectural studio developed a complex grass hill for their proposal of the Taipei Pop Music Center. Various sections are based around craters and volcanoes. The center consists of 3 main sections an outdoor performance space, main hall and a green roof park. the hills are specially designed with sound protection for the surrounding areas.

A terrain like this calls for a innovative solution like the one you’re seeing. The results are outstanding. The Edge House by Jarmund / Vigsnæs AS Architects is located in Kolbotn, a suburb south of  Oslo out in the cold Norway. Its unusual architecture caught our eye as it is not very common for a house to have such un-smooth edges and seem as it it is about to fall off a small cliff. The residence belongs to a young couple that wanted a cool design with a limited budget, a place that  “looked like you could shoot a James Bond movie in it”. We think the architects caught the essence of their wish. It is up to you to judge and tell us what you think.
