Nüvist | Proposal – Opera House Design Competition

Art has a great role in showing what happens in human beings’ life. Soul, intelligence and the emotions are the reflections of the community, and Art forms the social identities of communities. It also shows us the difference between the various social identities. Global influences effect the types of knowledge acquisitions or the social values in the art, and the artists determine the standards of modern life.

Thus, art centers have many roles beside their fundamental functions that should be participant, shared with society and create a modern level in connection between the citizens and the artists’ works. This concept is the key criteria for the Izmir Opera House Project. The project should be reflecting the history, the culture and the modern life in Izmir, furthermore it should be an identity for the city of Izmir.
Gerg Kaufman | Multi Touch Light Table
This is a senior degree project at designed by Gerg Kaufman at the kansas city art institute, from San Francisco and it features a touch screen interface for DJs called the ‘multi touch light table’. Using the classic turntable as a reference, the graphic interface allows users to control various parameters of music using different hand gestures. Just take a look at this innovative design. Sometimes technology just evolves too fast.
Water Purification Skyscraper in Jakarta | Indonesia
This project came in Second Place at the 2010 Skyscraper Competition. Rezza Rahdian, Erwin Setiawan, Ayu Diah Shanti, Leonardus Chrisnantyo are the architects for what you are seeing, and they are all from Indonesia.
Jakarta a city of Indonesia, was designed originally in the confluence of thirteen rivers which were used for transportation and agriculture. The largest is The Ciliwung River, which has been extremely polluted during the last couple of decades, characterizes by hundreds of slums inhabited by thousands of people in sorry conditions.
The Ciliwung Recovery Program (CRP) is a project that focuses on collecting the garbage of the riverbank and purifying its water through an ingenious system of mega-filters that operate in three different phases.
The first one separates the different types of garbage and utilizes the organic one to fertilize its soil.
Xavier Vilalta Studio – Alpha Project
Architects Xavier Vilalta Studio have won the competition with the theme : tower for Doha, Qatar. Called Alpha Project, the design is based on tha patterns of ancient Arabic tiles.

UK Architecture Firm Dan Brill Architects are among 12 international practices shortlisted to design a pedestrian footbridge for Trestles Beach, a surf spot in southern California. The Safe Trestles design competition, organised byArchitecture for Humanity, sought designs that give provide surfers access to the beach from the road on the bluff above, carrying them safely across a railway line while protecting the fragile dunes.
