When Accessories Make a Difference

When we think about changing the look of a room, the big things are what generally spring to mind. Changing the actual furniture in the room, for example, may be one great way to alter the style, say from Victorian to modernist, overnight. But it’s a very expensive way to change a look, and if that’s the only reason why you are making such pricey purchases you may well find that you will live to regret it.

Small Details to Spice A Room

There is another way, however, to change living room6 300x198 When Accessories Make a Differencehow a room looks. Apart from moving things around, you can also get new accessories and you will see the difference that this can make. As well as costing you less in the long run, you will also notice that it is often the little things that make all the difference.

Decorating with Neutral Colors

shutterstock 18032995 e1284895373134 Decorating with Neutral Colors It may seem like a strange decorating idea to consider neutrals a great decorating color palette, but in fact, they are.  Neutral colors offer a unique look that bold and bright colors simply cannot give a home.  If you are thinking about redecorating that living room filled with wine wall decor and rich crimson coloring, consider a neutral palette to give your room an entirely different feel.

What is Neutral?

Neutral colors are those colors that go with just about any other color.  In decorating, they are usually whites, creams, and tans or beiges.  While the variations between the different colors may seem minute, they are actually very different in their undertones.  Whites tend to be cooler colors than creams and tans are always slightly darker than their beige counterparts.  Understanding the different variations and how they work together can make a big difference in the success of decorating with neutral colors.

Decorating Your In-Home Day Care

shutterstock 17447440 e1284890869724 Decorating Your In Home Day Care Many stay-at-home moms often consider watching other children in their homes to earn some extra money for their family.  For those who not only take the idea seriously, but turn it into a business, the result is an in-home day care.  Most licensed in-home day cares have to have a separate area for the children.  If you are establishing a new in-home day care or would like to give yours a face lift, try some of the decorating ideas below to get you started.

Color

The first thing that you want to do when designing an in-home day care space is to make it colorful and appealing to the children who will be in it.  You can choose from a primary color palette that makes ample use of red, blue and yellow or go with a softer, more neutral color palette that focuses on white, brown and blue.  No matter what color scheme you feel most comfortable with, make sure that the accent pieces that you plan to use, like the beautiful dragonfly metal art that is perfect for the science nook, match the chosen colors.
