Divercity Architects – Kefalonia Hotel

Utopic Design – Kefalonia Hotel

Of course this is in the concept phase, and as we don’t talk very much about hotels here at archtopia, we won’t go on detailing the matter. We hope this serves as inspiration for the young architects out there.

The latest hotel design in Kefalonia, Greece created by the Divercity Architects intends to blend this contemporary hotel with the vernacular architecture of the surroundings.  Because of to the site conditions, the hotel blends to the sloping topology of the steep hill and it rests on and then breaks into four distinct strands that divide the site into north and south plots.   While fifteen luxury villas occupy the northern plot,  the southern portion contains gardens and areas for relaxation.  The facades are clad in operable perforated wooden panels that both serve to separate and extend the private living space into the outdoors.

Brilliant and delightful design, and surroundings.

iPad Gadget? iDrift Design by Michael Greenberg

Okay, since this is a utopian like new appearance and it’s still fun to mock it (no offense Apple, love the other cool stuff) there you go, a brand new idea with a design for the newborn iPad. If you’re into car-games, then rest assured you’re going to need add-ons like the iDrift. Unlike the hype of the Wii Mario Kart Wheel, this one is an easy to use peripheral; it has no mechanical or electronic parts whatsoever, making it cheap to manufacture and time-lasting.

Simple and creative design though. Of course the lines and the feeling of the iDrift can be improved to give it a more closer allure of a  real steering wheel. But the iDrift that you’re seeing is made under the idea that it has to be portable too… i guess.

No more Wallpaper. Only Inhabit Wall Flats.

As we made it our job to help you stay informed on where we feel the trends are going, we’d like to make an announcement– “Wallpaper and wall coverings are no longer a womans decision. Henceforth, the man shall hold the proverbial brush that covers that naked canvas of the walls in your home… but women are totally welcome to do all the painting work, providing that we choose the color.” (just kidding, we know we’re grasping at straws here, ladies)

Inhabit Wall Flats

The Inhabit Wall Flats come in five different designs, including the Seasaw design shown above. Let’s take a look at the other four: Braille, Bud, Industry, and Shangri-La.

Relaxing Squeezing Light Bubbles

If you’re finding bubbles squeezing childish for stress relieving, you might re-consider, because this little balls entertaining. One thing that has taken my fancy is lights and the unique odd ways in which I can use it to my advantage. Diana Lin’s d°light Bubbles looks dandy enough on their own, but I totally dig the interactive aspect. The bunch just beckons you to come over and give them a delightful squeeze. They even give out a ‘whoo’ sound at every pinch; beautiful silicone bubble LEDs.

25 Creative Wall Coverings

You’ve seen other wall coverings designs on archtopia but, what you’re about to see, is a collection of wallpapers and wall coverings that simply takes your breath away and gives you a sensation of fresh and new. So stay tuned and enjoy. Some of the Wall Coverings were the results of some idea contest and they might seem futuristic and impossible, but don’t let that get in the way of your imagination. The following images are for inspirational purposes only.

So here we go with the first finding in wall covering:

1. Camila Dietrich’s Wall Coverings

Ms. Diedrich wanted to create a wall covering ‘which used real light without having to make use of too much technology. The design, which has a fibre optic appeal, creates a luminous floral pattern, bringing nature into the home and casting a soft glow through any interior space.’ Glow + luminous + nature = major swoon
