Damilano | Apartment In The Attic by Studio

Attic renovations are not in a lot of people’s favorites lists. The unusual angles make it really hard for one to come up with furniture ideas that would fit in weird places and sometimes maintenance can raise more problems than in a usual apartment.

The Atticus apartment project belongs to Studio Damilano and is actually a make-over of an old attic space.


Every single room in this chic apartment amazes due to its great design and modern furniture approaches. Even though the space (240 sqm) is not as large as we got you used to here on Freshome, the two bedrooms, living room, two bathrooms and kitchen are more than enough for a great living.

In the master suite, a vintage 1980s Marimekko fabric by Fujiwo Ishimoto hangs on the wall of a closet separating the sleeping area from the bathroom. Furniture includes a custom bed and Peekaboo nesting tables from CB2. Donna Gorman designed the pillow fabrics; the bedspread is a reissued 1950s Marimekko fabric by Finnish designer Maija Isola; Tolomeo sconces are from Artimede.

Mike’s home may look familiar. He first made our acquaintance in a recent house call. Mike is lucky enough to live in an amazing neighborhood in a great sized one-bedroom apartment. Luckily, he had the forethought to move in during college!

Called dream dining room, because the photographer Pentra Bindel, wanted to gather some information about the subject. “My dream dining room shown above right. I already own some of these things, it’s just a matter of finding a new apartment with an adequate dining space and making it my own. I also love all the storage options, I could easily have a dining room/craft space in one with a dining table that doubles as a work table for sewing and crafting. This gives me ideas as I begin my new apartment search…”
