BARCELÓ MARKET

The new Barceló market and its surroundings area project is in fact the result of various other projects: An urban combination of different scale and programme elements that have come together to significantly transform a dense central area of Madrid. The idea originates from the definition of new areas that connect and link the different structures and foreseen functions of the market, shopping centre, sports centre, public library, car parks, temporary market and outdoor areas. The built-up complex is made up of three independent structures joined to a new public square.

Some Consider This Cottage The Most Amazing In The World

This lil’ thing, called “Leaf House”, may well be the most amazing cottage in the world. The cottage is located on an escarpment overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Sydney, Australia. It belongs as part of a larger private residence. The shape of the project has been fastened from the images of leaves making this very unique indeed. The roof is constructed of copper which has been woven into a pattern much like how a plant in nature would appear. The inside construction is anchored by supports that have been shaped to mirror that of plant stems; growing wild and in all directions. The end result is a panoramic view from the cottage that also contains a unique look from inside as well. Leaf House was designed by Undercurrent Architects.

Utopian Sea Cities of The Future | Assembled by Robots?

Can you imagine a post-apocalyptic world populated with prefabricated buildings? Assembled on land from “memory metal” that can pop into shape when carried out to deep-ocean building sites. Frankly, it is not that far-fetched in this day and age – except that the architect behind these dreams is now 92 years old …

Utopian Prefabricated Architecture

Can live off the grid in sustainably-powered, self-sufficient homes, sea-steading … sounds like something perfectly suited as a response to emerging environmental issues. What were once the implausible Utopian ideals of a young architecture student have evolved into the Venus Project, which seeks to address urban design and home-building issues on an ever-more-populated planet and in a changing global climate.

Futures Prefabricated: 7 X Stunning Small-Space Design Ideas

futuristic prefab homes Futures Prefabricated: 7 X Stunning Small Space Design Ideas

The challenge of Prefab 2020? Create a sensation – something more than just a working space to live. Ideas that will  inspire others, to be planted within the dizzyingly dense cores of the major city centers. Use design to show the incredible potential of prefabricated, modular and small-space apartments, condos and other housing types. The result? A series of fun, functional and futuristic dwelling designs from stackable bubble homes to fold-out, house-in-the-box architecture.

ecomobi fold out living spaces Futures Prefabricated: 7 X Stunning Small Space Design Ideas

Think about it for a moment: how much of your interior living space is actually in continuous use, or even used most of the time? When we are eating we need a dining room table and chairs, cooking requires appliances and work surfaces, for sleeping we depend on a comfortable bed – but rarely do all of these activities overlap. This is the basis of the winning submission shown above, Ecomobi by Mobius, perhaps the ultimate convertible apartment or condo space.

Melbourne’s New Architecture School

For some people, it was all about some building that inspired them as a child. Perhaps they grew up in some gorgeous mansion. perhaps they went to one of the great museums of the world as a kid and were completely captivated by it. Whatever it was, a single building got them interested in the process of designing and building others.

For other people, architecture schools are part of a political mission. You wouldn’t believe how many visionaries there are at an average architectural school. At the one I go to, they probably make up half the class. Some of them want to design buildings with the idea of providing beautiful and affordable housing to the poor, others to change the way we see space as a society.
