Modern Desks, Make Room: Wonderful Rotating Workspace

Simple modern office furniture can become static, stale and uncomfortable over time, while fully transforming furniture objects can be a bit too binary at times – convertible objects which are either one thing or another: desks that become chairs, sofas turn into beds and similarly simple setups.

This extremely sleek modern wood desk has as many configurations as you can imagine out of three independently-rotating wood elements that spin around a central axis. As if the initial premise were not intriguing enough, there is a deeper idea behind this clever design: one of fixed change over time.

In theory, the desk is designed to rotate into and out of various working positions throughout the day – a kind of alarm clock for doing certain tasks, taking breaks, and so on all around a half-day schedule. Appropriately named Alice, this desk is a truly wonderful design idea around change and time, whether it remains a fantasy or becomes a reality.
Eichler House : Mid-Century Modern Home Renovation Done Right
Home renovation is on the rise for obvious reasons; so many well made architecturally and geographically desirable homes are reaching the age of needing a serious face lift. Metropolitan Home recently featured the stunning mid-century (1960) Eichler House of Marika Sakellariou renovated by architects Lucian Rosciszewski and Marek Slosar who updated while respecting the roots of the homes interior and exterior. The mostly white interior and open floor plan is a breath of fresh air and compliments the natural landscape which is highly visible thanks to a transparent wall revealing the dining room, the kitchen, the living room and the master bedroom. Keep your eye on the well coordinated furniture and accessories that adorn this clean modern home renovation, especially the Aspen Sofa from Jean Marie Massaud from Cassina shown in all white. Here are some of the beautiful photographs by Shaun Sullivan featured in Met Home.

The design’s interconnected forms include a nine-level bridge which spans 35 meters and connects a student apartment on one side and a three-level building on the other. A higher volume cantilevers from the bridge building, offering panoramic views of the harbor. The layout of the forms is quite flexible as users can isolate one specific area if needed.

How to create eco–bathroom walls
Due to the destructive qualities of water and condensation, walls in the bathroom must be scrupulously protected. A cheap quick–fix is to coat all surfaces with thick gloss paint, but this will fill the space with high levels of VOCs that off–gas toxic residues and lead to breathing problems and allergic reactions. In addition, paint only protects a surface for a short time before it starts to peel and crack.
