Decorating your home with a nature theme can be a great way of adding a lot of excitement and visual interest. Although many people automatically associate wildlife art with rustic decorating styles, it can actually be used successful as part of many different decorating schemes. However, wildlife is definitely a natural when decorating a room in a rustic or “outdoorsy” theme. Here are a few ideas you can use as inspiration if you want to decorate your own home “on the wild side.”
A Touch of the Northern Wilderness
If you are decorating a cabin or a room that has a decidedly northern wilderness decorating theme, you’ll find plenty of interesting wildlife metal art sculptures that can add to the overall look. For example, a great piece of wolf metal wall art or a sculpture depicting moose, bears, or other northern wilderness wildlife species can really add an interesting and authentic look. You could use a variety of different animals throughout the room, or simply focus on one particular animal or species. For example, you could decorate a room using a bear motif, mirroring the theme through the creative use of art, wallpaper prints, tapestries, or upholstery fabrics. You could even add a faux bearskin rug to the floor to complete the look if desired.
Majestic Eagles
It’s hard to beat the majesty and inspiration that the sight of a soaring eagle can provide. Eagle metal art can be used to create a very inspiring room, or to beautifully accentuate a room decorated in a patriotic or Americana style. A large wrought iron decor eagle could be hung on a prominent wall, creating a very striking focal point within the room. You could then carry the eagle theme throughout the room in small ways, such as adding eagle print throw pillows to the sofa, or incorporating a throw rug that features an eagle motif. Colors such as deep blue and burgundy naturally come to mind when using eagles as the inspiration for a room’s design.
The Western or Southwestern Look
Wildlife art can also be used when decorating a room with western or southwestern flair. For example, art pieces featuring a coyote and cactus motif can work quite nicely as part of a southwestern decorating theme. Geckos and lizards can also add a touch of charm to a southwestern styled room. Although not technically “wildlife,” art pieces depicting horses, cattle or buffalo can work quite well in western styled rooms or those featuring a cowboy theme. Authentic tribal art and pieces depicting Native Americans can also work well with this decorating scheme.
Choosing the Perfect Piece of Wildlife Art
Since there are so many different wildlife art pieces from which to choose, sometimes it can be difficult to select just the right one. If you have a large expanse of wall, this could be the perfect place to display a really large piece of wildlife art, such as a soaring eagle or a metal sculpture depicting a herd of wild horses. Smaller art pieces can add visual interest to corners, mantels and table tops. Although a combination of several pieces can create an interesting look, sometimes a single large piece can create a more striking visual effect.
