Concept
This monument is situated in the home town of Pedro Almodóvar, Calzada de Calatrava, in the heart of La Mancha
I don’t know how you guys see this monument, but to me, as an architect, this is just a translation over a polygonal contour. It’s about stylizing some stairs. Is that all that can be in a monument? Can you find some other meanings to this? Of course, I could say this is a panel to another part of the city, or a connection between two worlds, but why does something of this scale be so simplistic, or for the ones more philosophic, why so complicated, and not accessible to everyday man, woman or child? Why does it has to be so damn useless? Because it’s a monument?
Let’s just not talk about the costs involving the project, because … really no comment. 80.000 Euros??? for that???
“The main idea of the project was, in consequence, to honor La Mancha, fitting in the monument the flat skyline, like it was a frame of an Almodovar´s movie.” A freaking frame??? I don’t want to trash nobodies work here, but this piece of art, doesn’t spoke to me at all, if any of you out there think this monument is cool, please enlight me, because I can’t seem to find any meaning for it.
If you are not intrigued, and you like this piece of “art” then good for you, drop a line, call me stupid, but if you find this thing appealing, please try to explain it to me so I can comprehend. I feel sorry for the humans that have to see day by day the “screen”, really, 80.000???
