Illustrator is one of my favorite software made by Adobe, and I use it a lot in my design projects, but one thing that seemed to make it undesirable, and totally annoying was the fact that you couldn’t or at least I couldn’t use the “skew” function as you would in Photoshop.
When you need to create a simple perspective text like the one in this tutorial you would, probably as me go to Photoshop, create your skewed text, and export it to illustrator. Well, those days are gone, since now there is a solution.
I made a video for you describing in detail how to create a perspective tool. I will also transcribe it so you can get around it more easily if me talking wasn’t clear enough, or you missed some steps.
Here are the steps to obtain the perspective effect:
1. Create the text of course.
2. Right click on the text and “Create Outlines” in order to make it editable, and to transform the letters to custom shapes.
3. Enable the Free Transform Tool from the toolbar, or just hit E on the keyboard.
4. Hover one of the upper corners of the selected BOX with the outlined text in it, and Press Shift and Left Mouse Click and hold both. Additionally you will press and hold the Ctrl (Command for MAC) which will perspective the corner. You can also press Alt (Option for MAC) and keystone two corners.
5. With or without Alt (Option for MAC), you can now release the Shift key to get full free-transform ability.
